Qpids Charmings on Homeboy

These Qpids Charmings were guests on today's episode of Homeboy: Gabb, Felix, Dominic, Janus, Mhyco, and Alwyn.

Host Boy Abunda opened the show by asking "What does it actually mean to be "pogi"? Does it have more to do with looks? or with personality? or with a guy's ability in courtship? or does it have more to do with talent? Let's all find out together as we search for the Pogi Boy of Homeboy."

Host Boy explains that the first part of their search for the Pogi Boy is the Talent segment. The judges for today's search are Kitkat and Pokwang.

Mhyco started the talent portion by singing a portion of "Unwell" (originally by Matchbox 20). Felix followed with a short dance number. Alwyn then performed a short acting skit, with judge Kitkat as his acting partner. Gabb accompanied himself on the guitar to the tune "Growing Old With You" (Adam Sandler). Dominic also performed a short dance number. Janus performed a short acting skit, with judge Pokwang as his acting partner.

In the second segment, host Boy Abunda explains that they will test the ability of the boys to court young girls. First, all the guests are blindfolded and asked to choose between two opposite types of girls. Once the choice is made, they were asked to demonstrate their courtship skills in make-believe situations.

Gabb had to ask a girl to go with him on a ghost-hunting date in Baguio. Felix had to ask a girl to let him kiss her. Dominic was asked to demonstrate what he would say to a girl if she were dancing with him to the tune of a romantic song. Janus was asked to demonstrate how he would say "I love you" to a girl for the very first time (and his partner was not a girl!). Mhyco was asked to flatter a girl by telling her what part of her body he finds most attractive. Alwyn was asked to demonstrate how he would comfort a girl who was feeling troubled.

At this point, the judges "eliminated" two of the boys, Gabb and Mhyco based on their performance in the talent and courting segments.

The third segment is the Question and Answer portion. The question was: You and your girlfriend are out and she is texting someone but she doesn't want to say who it is, and you are feeling jealous. At some point in the evening, your girlfriend leaves the table to use the rest room and she leaves her cellphone on the table. Will you read the messages on the cellphone? Why or why not?
  • Janus says he would not, since his girlfriend has the right to privacy, and for all he knows, his jealousy could be unfounded.
  • Felix says he would not, since she has the right to privacy. What if he reads it and finds something bad. Besides, I trust her.
  • Dominic says he would not look, because he respects her privacy.
  • Alwyn says he would not look, even though he's jealous. But he will give her due respect by respecting her privacy.
At this point, the judges "eliminated" two more of the boys, Dominic and Felix... leaving Alwyn and Janus in the race for the Pogi Boy of Homeboy.

The final segment is another Q&A portion. This time, the question comes from the judges.

Kitkat asks Alwyn: What sets you apart from other leading men? Alwyn responds: Totoo akong tao... hindi ako leading man na pa-plastic-plastic lang. Kahit artista ako, totoo akong tao.

Pokwang asks Janus: If you had not become an actor, what profession would you pursue that can help prevent the youth from getting into vices. Janus responds: I'd get them involved in activities, like a league or outings.

Jurors Pokwang and Kitkat then join host Boy and guests Alwyn and Janus on stage to announce the winner of the search for the Pogi Boy of Homeboy... and it's Janus!

Boy asks Janus for a final message, and he says: Hindi lahat nadadala sa itsura... nadadala sa ugali, prompting Alwyn to cheer loudly in the background... and the two friends share a high-five.

Host Boy Abunda wraps up the show by saying -- External beauty will fade... but inner beauty never goes out of style.
